EL1 Project Manager - National Security / Defence
Location: QLD or ACT
Contract: 12-month labour-hire contract, with 2 x 12-month possible extension options available for the right candidate
Pay: $150 - $165 p/h including super (negotiable)
Work type: Full-time
Work arrangement: Onsite, with arrangements agreed with your supervisor based on operational need
Clearance: Must hold a current NV2 clearance or above
About the Role
We are supporting our Federal Government client to engage 3 EL1-equivalent Project Managers for complex national security and Defence work. You will lead delivery across medium-scale projects, keeping schedule, risk, budget and people on track.
You will work with multi-disciplined teams and senior stakeholders to plan, manage and report on project delivery. This includes briefings, submissions, risk and issue management, governance, requirements and performance reporting.
This role suits a confident project leader who can bring structure to complex work, communicate with influence and make sound judgement calls in a sensitive workplace.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and coordinate a multi-disciplined project team
- Manage schedules, risks, budgets and resources
- Prepare briefings, submissions, reports and project updates
- Apply project management methods, tools and governance practices
- Track project performance against agreed plans
- Identify risks,
opportunities and options for action
- Build stakeholder engagement plans and communicate with influence
- Support planning, governance and workforce coordination
- Interpret and apply relevant policy and regulatory frameworks
What You Bring (Essential Criteria)
- You've led medium-scale projects in a complex government, Defence or technology environment
- You can manage schedule, risk, budget, resources and quality without losing momentum
- You've prepared senior-level briefs, submissions, reports and committee papers
- You use established project management methods, tools and change-control practices
- You can work with technical, operational and corporate teams to define scope and priorities
- You've influenced stakeholders, handled difficult trade-offs and kept decisions moving
- You're an Australian citizen
- You must hold a current NV2 clearance or above
Nice to Have (Desirable Criteria)
- Experience with SFIA-aligned project, requirements, finance or stakeholder capabilities
- Experience in Defence, national security, cyber or intelligence environments
- Experience working with multi-disciplined ICT or capability delivery teams
- Exposure to high-security onboarding or suitability assessment processes
