About WB Infrastructure

WB Infrastructure is an established civil infrastructure contractor delivering water, wastewater and civil construction services across NSW and the ACT.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our Sydney operations and work across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure renewal, maintenance and repair projects.

About the Role

This is a varied, hands-on position involving both excavator operation and general civil construction activities across projects throughout Sydney.

The successful candidate will work on projects ranging from smaller reactive repairs and water-service renewals through to larger watermain and civil infrastructure works.

This is not a machine-only position. In addition to operating plant, you will work alongside our civil crews and assist with pipe laying, service-line repairs, excavation support and other general construction activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Operating excavators safely and efficiently on civil infrastructure projects

- Excavating around existing water, sewer and utility services

- Completing detailed excavation in congested and restricted work areas

- Excavating trenches for watermains, service lines, fittings and associated infrastructure

- Supporting watermain renewals, pipe laying and water-service repair activities

- Assisting with bedding, backfilling, compaction and site reinstatement

- Loading trucks and managing excavated materials

- Completing daily plant inspections and reporting maintenance requirements

- Working from site plans, service information and supervisor instructions





- Assisting the wider crew with hands-on civil construction duties when the excavator is not operating

- Following SWMS, excavation permits, environmental controls and project procedures

- Maintaining protected separation from underground and overhead services

- Supporting day, night and emergency works when required

About You

We are looking for a capable and safety-focused operator who is comfortable working around live services and contributing as part of a civil construction crew.

To be successful, you should have:

- Demonstrated experience operating excavators on civil construction or utility projects

- Experience excavating around existing underground services

- Strong detailed excavation and final-trim skills

- Previous experience in water, sewer, drainage or pipeline construction

- Relevant excavator competency qualifications or a current Verification of Competency

- A current White Card

- A current Australian driver license

- A strong understanding of plant safety and daily inspection requirements

- The ability to follow plans, service locations, procedures and supervisor instructions

- A reliable, practical and team-focused approach

- Willingness to assist with pipe laying, repairs and general civil duties





- Flexibility to work across different Sydney locations and undertake occasional night or after-hours work

The following would be highly regarded:

- Watermain renewal or water-service repair experience

- Pipe-laying experience

- HR or MR driver licence

- Confined Space, Working at Heights and Gas Test Atmospheres qualifications

- Dogging, lifting or other relevant plant tickets

- Experience operating different excavator sizes and attachments
