We have an exciting industry-based HDR project open for Domestic Students in Australia (Citizens and Permanent Residents) at RMIT University in collaboration with Consunet Pty Ltd. The scholarship is supported by the CSIRO Next Generation Graduate Program.

Stipend scholarship value: AUD 52,500 per year (TBC)

Project ID 38916: Distributed Cognitive Electromagnetic Systems (PhD)

Short description: This PhD project investigates how multiple intelligent platforms, such as drones, ships, or aircraft, can autonomously sense, communicate, and adapt their (communication, sensing) behavior in shared and dynamic RF settings. You will explore how AI can enhance spectrum awareness, improve coordination between platforms, and maintain reliable operation especially in congested or contested RF conditions.

Required Skills:




Programming and simulation: solid experience in Python or MATLAB.
Mathematical modelling: probability, optimization, or multi-agent interactions.
Machine learning: reinforcement learning, or multi-agent systems.
Signal processing: spectrum sensing, localization, or radio workplace modelling.
Multi-agent systems: distributed intelligence, communication-limited cooperation, or swarm behavior.
