Job Description

We are looking for a talented Frontend Engineer to join our team and help shape the user experience across Canva’s core products, including the Editor, Docs, Presentations, and Websites.

Location & Work Mode

This role is based in Sydney, within our Surry Hills campus. We offer a hybrid work model that combines remote flexibility with on‑campus collaboration when it matters most.

Responsibilities

As a Frontend Engineer, you will:
Lead the design and development of performant, delightful user interfaces with contemporary frontend frameworks.
Collaborate closely with Product Managers, designers, and other engineers to scope, define, and deliver impactful product features.
Advance Canva’s frontend architecture through reusable component libraries and shared design systems.
Champion accessibility, performance, and engineering best practices across multiple product surfaces.
Write robust, well‑tested code and proactively identify opportunities for technical improvement or refactor.
Guide design and code reviews, mentor peers, and elevate the technical bar for your team.

Qualifications
Highly experienced building complex,



user‑facing applications with modern frontend technologies (React, TypeScript).
Solid JavaScript fundamentals and deep understanding of the web platform.
Comfortable owning end‑to‑end features—architecture to delivery—while driving the “how” of implementation.
Balanced attention to detail with pragmatism, consistently shipping quality code at speed.
Team-oriented mindset that works well across disciplines and proactively brings others into the process.
Understanding of how your work connects to product goals, user experience, and long‑term scalability.
Passion for mentoring others, giving constructive feedback, and raising the technical bar for the team.
