Join our market‑leading Indirect Tax team in Sydney. We advise a broad spectrum of clients, including multinationals, listed REITs, developers, financial institutions and government.
Role
We are looking for an experienced indirect tax skilled to join our team at the Senior Associate or Special Counsel level. You will take a leading role on complex and high‑profile matters, including major M&A; transactions, GST risk reviews, infrastructure projects and advisory work.
Key Responsibilities
Manage GST audits, investigations and objections with a high degree of autonomy
Provide complex structuring advice, particularly in property and financial services
Offer strategic GST guidance on cross‑border transactions
Mentor and supervise junior team members
Contribute to business development and client relationship management
Engage directly with senior clients and stakeholders
Qualifications
6+ years’ PQE in taxation law with a solid focus on indirect tax (GST)
Deep technical knowledge of GST legislation, case law and rulings
Proven track record of managing complex matters with minimal supervision
Experience mentoring and developing junior lawyers
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear, commercial advice
Robust business development interest or experience
Experience with transaction structuring and cross‑border tax issues
A collaborative, client‑focused approach with sound commercial judgement
