Your new employer is a family owned long-established industrial services and manufacturing business which has been protecting critical assets in environments where reliability really matters. From wear prevention and site repairs through to major workshop refurbishments, the business supports industrial clients across multiple locations in New South Wales and Queensland. With traditional family values, a strong reputation and a team that genuinely works together, people communicate, stay connected and help each other out.
There are no silos, no corporate politics and no expectation that someone else will deal with it. The foundations are solid, the team is experienced and the business is operating well. They already use Microsoft Business Central, have access to Power BI and have plenty of valuable data.
They just need someone with the capability and curiosity to bring it all together, the results tangible, and give the leadership team faster, clearer insight into the business You will lead a finance team of 3, including a Finance Coordinator, Accounts Payable Officer and Finance Administrator, while overseeing the day-to-day finance function across Carrington, Mudgee and Mackay. This is a hands-on Finance Manager role where you will maintain a strong, accurate finance function while also helping the Executive Team understand what the numbers are saying and what they mean for future decisions. You will be responsible for: Managing the month-end and year-end close process. Preparing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting. Leading budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management. Managing stock, inventory reporting, valuations and reconciliations. Maintaining the fixed asset register and overseeing capital expenditure reporting. Overseeing payroll for approximately 60+ employees. Monitoring margins, costs, working capital and business performance.
Supporting the Managing Director and operational leaders with financial modelling and commercial advice. Assessing the financial viability of new projects, equipment purchases and business initiatives. Improving reporting through Microsoft Business Central and Power BI. Developing dashboards that provide live visibility across sales, margins, cash flow, stock, expenses and operational performance. Reducing reliance on manual Excel reporting and making reports faster, cleaner and more meaningful. This is a practical Finance Manager position where you will remain close to the numbers, the team and the day-to-day operations.
You will still have a seat at the table, but your advice needs to be clear, useful and grounded in what is actually happening across the business.ABOUT YOUYou will be an experienced Finance Manager or senior manufacturing accountant who understands that finance in a smaller business is interactive, practical and occasionally requires everyone to roll up their sleeves. Manufacturing experience is essential. You will understand inventory, stock, job costing, margins, operational expenses and the impact these areas have on cash flow and profitability. You will also bring: Hands-on Power BI experience and the ability to build useful dashboards. Strong month-end, management reporting and forecasting experience. Experience leading or supporting a small finance team. Confidence working with operational and executive stakeholders. The ability to turn financial information into clear, practical advice. Strong systems capability, ideally including Microsoft Business Central. The willingness to work closely with the broader business rather than operate from behind a spreadsheet. Start times generally stagger between 7 am or 8 am start, finishing at 3 pm or 4 pm.
Some flexibility is available, although in the interests of collaboration, the preference is for someone who enjoys being part of the business and working from the office five days per week.
