The Disability Coordination Officer works within the Disability and Allied Health Services team to support the identification of adults with disability entering the Adult Custodial environment.

Responsibilities

Receive and respond to referrals relating to the identification of the disability needs of adults detained within the justice system.
Review disability-related information, undertaking desktop reviews for referred individuals using the Corrective Services databases.
Determine whether the reviewed disability information meets the criteria for applying a disability flag in the department's custodial database.

Raise and maintain disability alerts and flags on the department's custodial database when specialist reports or verified information indicate the presence of a disability. These flags support custodial, health, allied health, and other authorised staff in understanding individual needs of people in custody with disability.

Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.

Role Specific Criteria – knowledge of the disability services sector and the legislation, policies and best practices regarding information sharing and release.
