About the role
Permanent full time chance to provide culturally sensitive mental health and social and emotional wellbeing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people incarcerated at Brisbane Women's Correctional Centre, Southern Queensland Correctional Centre and Woodford Correctional Centre. This includes working as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the provision of co-case management, care coordination, assessment support, interventions, referrals and advice on social and cultural aspects of transition and post release support.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide culturally appropriate therapeutic mental health and social and emotional wellbeing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in custody within Woodford Correctional Centre, Brisbane Women's Correctional Centre and Southern Queensland Correctional Centre, through the provision of support, cultural consultancy, peer supervision, and transitional care plans and coordination.
- Manage a case load of clients with varying needs and identified issues including mental health, substance use (alcohol and other drugs), cultural, trauma, grief and social support needs.
- Participate in the delivery of a range of mental health and social and emotional wellbeing interventions in a safe, competent and effective manner including counselling, health promotion/education,
referrals across agencies, and transitional co-care management activities.
- Utilises cultural assessments, interventions contribute to mental health early intervention and relapse prevention strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers, including brief interventions to inform mental health and social and emotional wellbeing care and transitional care pathways.
