The Role

The successful applicant will ideally be a highly effective classroom practitioner with expertise in Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS).

Applicants should demonstrate the ability to plan, deliver and assess engaging, differentiated learning programs that support student achievement across both curriculum areas. They will ideally foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes curiosity,



critical thinking, and intercultural understanding.

The successful applicant should have a proven ability to use evidence-based teaching strategies, implement effective classroom management practices, and maintain high expectations for student engagement and behaviour. They should also support the development of students’ cultural awareness and appreciation of diverse languages and cultures, including First Nations perspectives and, where appropriate, Noongar language.

Working collaboratively with colleagues, the successful applicant will contribute to whole-school priorities, curriculum development, and ongoing professional learning. They should also build positive relationships with students, parents and the wider school community to support improved educational outcomes.

Free relocation

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Newton Moore Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school,



with the remainder paid at the end of the school year.

Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position.

At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
