Role Description
The Registered Nurse Casual role is a contract, on-site position based in Adelaide, SA at Dernancourt Medical Centre. In this role, the nurse will provide direct patient care, including triage, vital signs assessment, wound care, immunisations, and chronic disease management support under the direction of the medical practitioners.
Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with minor procedures, administering medications, updating clinical records, and supporting health assessments and care plans. The nurse will coordinate with doctors and reception staff to ensure smooth patient flow, maintain infection control and workplace safety standards, and contribute to patient education and health promotion activities.
Shifts are casual and may vary based on practice needs, requiring flexibility and a responsive approach to workload.
Qualifications
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated clinical nursing skills in primary care or general practice, including patient assessment, wound management, and medication administration.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients from varied backgrounds and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Competence in clinical documentation and use of electronic medical record systems, with attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control, workplace health and safety, and relevant clinical guidelines in the primary care setting.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing workloads and casual shift patterns.
- Commitment to person-centered care, cultural sensitivity, and non-discriminatory practice.
- Previous experience in a general practice or community health environment is highly regarded; relevant postgraduate qualifications in primary care or chronic disease management are an advantage.
