About the role
We're seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to deliver accurate, compliant, and high-quality payroll services while providing specialist payroll expertise across the organisation. Based at Newstead, this is a maximum-term contracts (12 months).
As a subject matter expert, you will manage complex payroll matters, champion compliance, support continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor team members to ensure service excellence.
Salary range: $93,103 - $102,572 per annum and +
What you'll be doing
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Interpret and apply awards, EBAs, legislation, taxation, and employment conditions.
- Resolve complex payroll issues and act as an escalation point for enquiries.
- Conduct audits, reconciliations, and data integrity checks.
- Partner with Finance, HR Systems, and Rostering teams to improve payroll processes.
- Monitor legislative changes and implement required process and system updates.
- Coach and mentor Payroll Officers and contribute to team capability development.
- Lead and support payroll improvement projects, system upgrades, and change initiatives.
About you
- Extensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a complex environment.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, EBAs, taxation, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience resolving complex payroll issues and driving process improvements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and coaching skills.
- Experience using Aurion, Kronos, and payroll reconciliation tools.
- A team-oriented approach with a strong focus on accuracy, customer service, and continuous improvement.
