About Us:
Support Worker Co is a leading Support Worker Agency that provides best fit Youth Workers to Youth Service Organisations across Australia.
Role Responsibilities:
Youth Workers will be required to:
- Deliver high-quality care and support within a 24-hour residential setting to children who are unable to live with their families, kinship carers, or foster carers.
- Provide specialised disability support for young people with complex disabilities (Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Non-verbal)
- Provide assistance with:
- PEG Feeding
- Personal care (full support which includes toileting, showering & feeding)
- Use of ceiling hoists/slings to safely transfer the client
- Medication administration
- Work a variety of shifts, including:
- Day shifts: 6:00 - 09:00 & 06:00-14.00
- Afternoon shifts with sleepover – from 14:00 until 09:00am the next day
- Respond to the young person’s physical, emotional and functional needs and support the development of their personal skills.
- Work within a team to provide disability care, trauma-informed and therapeutic care to young people presenting with complex needs due to past trauma and abuse.
- Provide a safe and homely setting while supporting young people to achieve their goals.
- Assist with administrative requirements and household duties.
What You Need:
- A minimum Certificate III in Individual Support or a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a recognised tertiary qualification in Youth Work,
Community Services, or a related qualification.
- Experience supporting high-risk youth in a residential care setting.
- Experience supporting children and young people with disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy.
- Australian Driver’s License (international licenses not accepted).
- Current First Aid Certificate with CPR.
- Working with Children Check (paid employee status).
- National Police Check (current).
- Reliable car with registration certificate.
- Reliable smart phone with data.
- Ability to work a combination of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts (active and/or sleepover).
- Previous experience working with children and young people with complex needs
