What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a passionate and reliable Animal Facilities Officer to join Council’s Community Rangers & Animal Facilities team. In this hands-on role, you will support the day-to-day operations of our Animal Facility and Adoption Centre, helping to ensure high standards of animal care, welfare and facility maintenance. Working alongside a dedicated team, you'll play an important role in caring for impounded and surrendered animals, supporting adoptions, and delivering positive outcomes for both animals and the community.

What Your Day Will Look Like

Providing daily care for animals including feeding, watering, enrichment, monitoring health and wellbeing, and administering basic treatments.Maintaining clean, safe and compliant animal housing, including waste disposal and facility upkeep.Assisting with animal intake, adoptions, reunifications and customer enquiries relating to animal welfare services.Maintaining accurate records and updating Council systems for animal movements, treatments, fees and impoundment documentation.Supporting compliance requirements, disease control processes, stock monitoring, basic maintenance tasks and rostered after-hours responsibilities.

What You’ll Need For Success

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of animal welfare, animal handling and facility operations.Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the public.Problem‑solving ability,



attention to detail and time management skills.Ability to work under general supervision and as part of a team.Proficient computer literacy including the ability to use corporate systems and comply with relevant legislation, guidelines and Council procedures.

What’s Nice To Have

Animal facilities experience or similar.Authorised implanter (microchipping) qualification.Certificate 3 (AQF Level 3 or above) in Animal Studies or Veterinary Nursing qualification.
