Veterinary Receptionist – Part-Time
Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital | Perth's Northern Suburbs
The first smile our clients see. The reassuring voice on the other end of the phone. The heart of our hospital.
At Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital, our reception team does so much more than answer phones and book appointments.
They're the friendly face welcoming excited new puppy owners, the calm voice helping clients through emergencies, the reassuring presence supporting families during difficult moments, and an essential part of the team that delivers outstanding veterinary care every single day.
If you're someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, thrives in a busy environment, loves working as part of a close-knit team and has a passion for delivering exceptional customer service, we'd love to meet you.
Whether you're an experienced veterinary receptionist, have a background in medical reception, or simply possess outstanding people skills and a genuine love of animals, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
Why You'll Love Working Here
Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital has been caring for the pets of Perth's northern suburbs for almost 50 years.
As a privately owned, long-established small animal hospital, we've built our reputation on compassionate care, strong client relationships and an incredible team culture. Many of our clients have trusted us with generations of family pets, and we never take that privilege for granted.
When you join our team, you'll enjoy:
- Monday to Friday roster – no weekend work.
- Above-award remuneration based on experience.
- A supportive, friendly and genuinely collaborative workplace.
- Ongoing training and opportunities to develop your skills.
- A workplace where your contribution is recognised and appreciated.
- The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of people and their pets every day.
We work hard, but we also enjoy what we do.
We celebrate our successes, support one another through busy days and believe that great teamwork makes all the difference.
About the Role
This permanent part-time position works four days Monday to Friday from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm, with a fifth, longer weekday shift from 10:00 am to 7:00pm (this weekday shift to be determined at your successful interview)
Working alongside our experienced reception and nursing team, you'll help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our busy hospital.
No two days are ever quite the same.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism.
- Answering telephone enquiries and providing outstanding customer service.
- Booking appointments and coordinating a busy daily schedule.
- Checking patients in and out for consultations, surgery and hospital stays.
- Managing email correspondence with clients, specialists and suppliers.
- Assisting our veterinarians and nurses to keep the hospital running efficiently.
- Helping create a positive experience for every client who walks through our doors.
Who We're Looking For
We're searching for someone who is:
- Friendly, warm and genuinely enjoys working with people.
- Calm and organised, even when things become busy.
- An excellent communicator, both in person and over the phone.
- Confident using computers and learning recent software.
- Able to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
- A positive team player who enjoys supporting those around them.
- Compassionate, reliable and eager to learn.
Previous veterinary reception experience would be fantastic, but it isn't essential.
We also warmly encourage applications from experienced medical receptionists, healthcare professionals and customer service specialists who are looking for a rewarding new career working with animals.
We'll happily provide training for the right person with the right attitude.
Why This Role Is Different
Some days you'll welcome an excited family collecting their new puppy.
Some days you'll help coordinate an emergency patient arriving through our doors.
Some days you'll celebrate a much-loved pet going home after surgery.
And sometimes you'll quietly support a family saying goodbye to a lifelong companion.
Veterinary reception is about so much more than answering phones.
It's about empathy.
It's about kindness.
It's about communication.
It's about being part of a team that makes a real difference every single day.
