J & S Drilling is looking for experienced driller assistants to work with us on a casual basis to start. These jobs are based out of our Gracemere yard, Rockhampton area, in Central Queensland. We are offering the chance to work on a number of exciting mining projects in QLD, NT, NSW & WA. As an experienced driller assistant, you will be an important part of the drilling operations, working closely with the driller to make sure that drilling at our sites is safe and efficient.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting the Driller in the operation and maintenance of drilling equipment
- Helping to prepare the drill site and equipment for drilling activities
- Monitoring the drilling process and reporting any issues or concerns to the Driller
- Maintaining a safe and tidy work environment
- Performing general labouring duties as required
- Helping the Driller with drill reports, pre-starts and take-5s
What we're looking for
- Must have a current HR licence or higher.
- Previous experience as a Driller Assistant or in a similar role within the mining/resources industry
- Minimum 6-12 months' drilling experience required in any drilling environment (except blast hole), including exploration, water well, geotechnical, or environmental drilling
- Solid understanding of drilling equipment and processes
- Ability to work safely and follow all relevant procedures and regulations
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of the role
- Must be based in QLD, with preference for candidates local to Gracemere/Rockhampton area highly regarded
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test if required
