We are seeking a creative and highly organised Design Assistant to support the end-to-end product development process across our bags and soft accessories range. Working closely with the Designer, you’ll play a key role in bringing seasonal collections to life—from initial concept and technical development through to samples, ranging, and final production readiness.
The Role
- Create stylised and technical drawings in Adobe Illustrator.
- Set up and maintain seasonal tech packs and style files.
- Support product development including prototype sampling, lab dips and supplier follow‑ups.
- Maintain and update product data in D365 in collaboration with Design and Admin teams.
- Prepare for range and buy meetings (samples, mood boards, imagery, documentation).
- Manage WIP tracking, sample logs and critical‑path updates.
- Coordinate and maintain seasonal samples for marketing, PR, campaigns and production.
- Support sample approvals, costing inputs and product comments with Designer/Buyer.
- Assist with identifying best and worst sellers through sales and trade reviews.
- Ensure samples are organised, maintained and prepared for shoots and presentations.
- Participate in weekly production and trade meetings.
- On‑site role five days a week, based in our St Kilda Road offices.
The Ideal Candidate
- A tertiary qualification or equivalent in Fashion Design, Product Design or a related discipline.
- 3+ years’ experience in a Design Assistant, Buying Assistant or similar role.
- Proven experience in bags design.
- Strong Adobe Illustrator skills (essential).
- Confident hand sketching ability.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Basic‑intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong understanding of product development, textiles, and print/graphic creation.
- High attention to detail with solid organisation and time‑management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
