Be the Technical Authority behind safe, efficient rebuilds and fabrication work, focusing on our extended supplier network.
At Komatsu, Longwall and Development rebuilds rely on robust technical governance, supplier capability and disciplined execution. Technical SME - Rebuilds, you’ll provide the technical leadership needed to ensure rebuild work within our subcontractor network is safe, compliant, aligned to engineering standards and delivered efficiently at third-party sites.
Based in the Hunter Valley, this role partners closely with key internal stakeholders including our engineering teams and supply team as well as subcontractors to lift and maintain rebuild quality, improve cycle time, protect margin and reduce cost to the customer.
The Opportunity
You’ll act as the technical authority for Longwall and Development rebuild activity undertaken within our subcontractor network, ensuring readiness, compliance and technical alignment across subcontractor rebuild environments. You understand how we repair our machines and generate and plan for packets of work, and apply this to:
· Provide technical oversight for Longwall and Development rebuilds completed at third-party subcontractor sites
· Confirm technical readiness, rebuild standards compliance and engineering alignment before and during execution
· Support subcontractors to improve capability, consistency, quality and adherence to Komatsu technical requirements
· Identify technical risks, resolve issues early and support safe, compliant and efficient rebuild outcomes
· Contribute to operational performance, margin improvement, cycle-time reduction and lower cost to the customer
What You'll Be Doing
You bring deep technical credibility, sound judgement and a practical approach to solving rebuild challenges. You’re comfortable working across engineering, operations and supplier environments,
and you know how to influence outcomes without compromising safety, quality or compliance.
What You'll Bring
Technical Authority. You bring strong Longwall, Development or heavy equipment rebuild expertise and can provide confident technical guidance in complex rebuild environments, with extensive experience in heavy equipment fabrication, structural repairs, and welding practices.
Supplier Partnership. You build productive relationships with subcontractors and internal teams, lifting capability while keeping expectations clear and standards consistent.
Safety, Quality & Compliance. You understand the importance of disciplined technical governance and ensure rebuild work meets engineering, safety and quality requirements.
Commercial Focus. You recognise how technical decisions influence operating performance, margin, cycle time and customer cost outcomes.
A Continuous Improvement Mindset. You look for practical ways to improve rebuild standards, supplier performance, process consistency and delivery efficiency.
