MSF Sugar is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our 2027 Apprenticeship Program at our Tableland Mill, located approximately 25km west of Mareeba on the Atherton Tablelands.

If you have a strong mechanical aptitude, enjoy working with your hands, and are eager to learn, this is your opportunity to build a rewarding career in a large-scale manufacturing environment. You'll receive comprehensive on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced tradespeople while working towards a nationally recognised trade qualification.

Our 2027 1st year apprenticeship opportunities include:

- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting)

- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker)

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll develop practical skills working on a diverse range of heavy machinery and equipment that supports every stage of the sugar manufacturing process.

What You'll Learn

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll gain experience in:

- Maintaining, repairing, and overhauling heavy industrial machinery and equipment.

- Fabricating, welding, fitting, and assembling plant and structural components.





- Diagnosing mechanical faults and assisting with equipment breakdowns.

- Using engineering drawings, precision measuring equipment, and workshop tools.

- Working on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, turbines, mills, piping, pressure vessels, and other factory equipment.

- Developing practical trade skills under the guidance of experienced Fitters and Boilermakers.

- Working safely in accordance with industry standards and safe work practices.

About You

We're looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn and committed to building a successful trade career.

Ideally, you will have:

- Successfully completed Year 12, including Mathematics (A, B or C), English (or English Communications), and at least one Science, Engineering, or Industrial Technology subject; or

- Completed a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways, Certificate II in Engineering, or other relevant pre-vocational studies; or

- Relevant work experience demonstrating an interest in mechanical fitting, fabrication, or heavy industry.

- A genuine interest in becoming a qualified Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker.

- A strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in engineering or manufacturing.

- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

- A commitment to working safely at all times.

- Reliability, motivation, and a strong work ethic.





- The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

- Good communication skills and a willingness to contribute to a supportive team environment.
