We are seeking a Mechanical (Performance) Engineering student in their third year of study to undertake a 36-week placement at Stanwell Power Station. This is an opportunity to gain firsthand experience working alongside RPEQ qualified engineers on a working coal fired power plant. This opportunity will run from the end of semester 2 this year until the start of semester two 2026. About the roleThis a 36-week opportunity located at Stanwell Power Station for a student studying Mechanical Engineering.We are looking for an enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Student in their 3rd year of study. This will allow you to put your university studies into practice, while under the guidance of qualified and highly experienced RPEQ engineers and subject matter experts. This is a 36-week opportunity commencing in November 2026, with a 4-day working schedule from Tuesday to Friday. This position has potential to feed into our other early careers programs.Key activities includeDeveloping mass and energy balance models / thermal engineering calculations to help to optimise plant performance / conditionAssist with reviewing plant operation strategiesProviding hands on assistance with mechanical project workContributing to plant or process investigationsAssisting Plant Engineers and non-destructive testing team during major outages; allowing you to observe and learn parts of the plant that are normally running.
About youCompleting your 3rd year of Mechanical Engineering studyBe based near the power station,
