Argo Natural Resources is a new force in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry with a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects. In our short history, we have successfully reinvigorated operations at Carborough Downs underground mine, breathed new life into the Broadlea open cut and opened our new underground longwall pit at Ironbark No.1.
About the role
We’re seeking a Workplace Trainer to join our team in office at Ironbark No.1, reporting directly to the Health, Safety, Training & Risk (HSTR) Manager. In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality training and conducting assessments for our site workforce, ensuring alignment with both internal policies and external compliance standards.
You’ll take a hands-on approach, providing infield coaching and support to maintain solid training standards across the site. As a key member of the HSTR team, you’ll work closely with senior leaders across various functions, contributing to our overall training and assessment strategy and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
· Deliver site inductions and assess new starters for role readiness (e.g. RPL, RCC, challenge testing).
· Support Emergency Response Team training and emergency drills.
· Assist with site and area familiarisations for recent personnel.
· Mentor new-to-industry workers through the Inexperienced Mine Worker Program.
· Participate in team meetings, audits,
inspections, and hazard identification activities.
· Support operational leaders in implementing and maintaining training systems.
· Apply relevant HSEC policies, procedures, and legislation in daily work.
About you
· Underground coal mining experience (essential)
· Certificate IV in Training & Assessment – TAE40122 (essential)
· Practical underground skills with relevant machinery tickets (e.g. Driftrunner, LHD, Bolter)
· Solid understanding of training systems, industry standards, and instructional techniques
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
· Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage training schedules, resources, and logistics
· Self-motivated and able to work independently
· Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various departments to identify and meet training needs
· Flexible in adapting training delivery methods to meet business requirements
· Experienced in delivering hands-on training and assessments
· Proven ability to monitor and maintain training quality standards across crew trainers and assessors
