City of Mount Gambier has an exciting chance for a motivated and driven individual to join the Parks and Gardens team.

About the position:

- Full-time Permanent

The Team Member Parks and Gardens plays a vital role in maintaining our community's green spaces, ensuring they remain inviting and pristine for residents and visitors alike.

This position encompasses a blend of physical labour, environmental stewardship, and horticultural expertise, all with the ultimate goal of creating and sustaining beautiful, safe, and functional outdoor areas that enhance the well-being of our community and showcase the City of Mount Gambier’s natural assets. The Team Member - Parks and Gardens will generally - but not exclusively - work within the Parks and Gardens Team.

Some of the feature areas of focus will include significant gardens and landscapes such as.

- The Crater Lakes, Vansittart Park, Umpherston Sinkhole/Balumbul, Cave Garden/Thugi, Wulanda Recreation & Convention Centre, The Railway Lands Reserve (and Corridor), Blue Lakes Sports Park, Englebrecht Cave.

This position is classified at Grade 4 (currently $74,629.59 - $76, 270.82 per annum) of the City of Mount Gambier AWU Enterprise Agreement No. 13 2025.

About you:

- Demonstrated knowledge of landscape design, horticultural practices, and sustainable landscaping principles to enhance the aesthetic appeal and natural beauty of Council’s parks, gardens and cemeteries.

- A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service by being responsive and helpful to visitors and residents' needs and inquiries.

- Experience in maintaining high standards of work quality with a strong eye for detail.

- Experience in operating a range of plant and equipment in such a manner as to deliver optimum vehicle/equipment performance and efficiency.

- Formal education (or willing to obtain) in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field, providing a strong foundation for effective grounds management. (Certificate 3 or higher)



or relevant experience in a similar role.
