About the Role

WorkPac is currently seeking a reliable and safety-focused Blaster to join a well-established industrial team based in Wangara. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with abrasive blasting experience who enjoys working within a fast-paced workshop environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing valves, actuators, components, and fabricated products through abrasive blasting processes to ensure surfaces meet customer, engineering, and quality specifications prior to painting, inspection, assembly, or repair.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

- Perform abrasive blasting on valves, actuators, components, fabricated items, and customer-returned equipment.
- Prepare surfaces to required blast standards in line with customer specifications and coating requirements.
- Remove rust, scale, old coatings, and surface contaminants to ensure products are ready for further processing.
- Operate blast cabinets, free-standing blasting units, recovery systems, and associated equipment safely.
- Complete routine inspections of blasting equipment and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Assist with repair and refurbishment activities by preparing components for assembly and repair processes.
- Identify signs of corrosion, erosion, and surface wear during preparation activities.




- Inspect completed blasting work to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Safely move materials using approved lifting equipment and assist with loading/unloading components.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, including disposal of blasting media and waste materials in accordance with site procedures.
- Support workplace housekeeping, 5S principles, and continuous improvement activities.

Skills & Experience Required

- Previous experience in abrasive blasting or surface preparation within an industrial environment.
- Experience working with valves, actuators, fabricated products, or mechanical components is highly regarded.
- Ability to safely operate blasting equipment and follow correct operating procedures.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, specifications, and quality procedures.
- Good attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality outcomes.
- Reliable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol Screening (DAS).
- Full working rights in Australia.
