Production Assistant – Position Description

Employment Status: Casual (moving to Permanent Part Time)

Location: Beauty and the Bees Factory, Glenorchy

Hours Per Week: As required – approximately 26–30 hours per week

Reporting to: Production Manager

Beauty and the Bees is an established, highly respected, cutting‑edge Tasmanian natural hair and skincare company that makes products by hand from nutrient‑rich Tasmanian fruits, berries, seaweed, hops, olive oil, honey and herbs. All ingredients are sourced locally from apiaries, beaches, dairies, forests and farms, including rare ingredients such as Leatherwood Honey and Beeswax found only in Tasmania. Products are sold through a dedicated retail outlet in Hobart, Salamanca Market and a mail‑order business.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Assistant supports day‑to‑day manufacturing processes, ensuring productive production operations and the ability to meet production targets.

Working in a small team, the assistant must use a high level of attention to detail and good problem‑solving skills to maintain a smooth production workflow in a protected and hygienic work environment.

Key Areas of Accountability
Production

- Assist in setting up production equipment and machinery.
- Prepare soap and shampoo moulds.
- Cut soap and shampoo products.
- Make products – follow recipes, weigh ingredients, mix, and cook.




- Restock ingredients.
- Package products.
- Manage inventory.

Cleaning

- Mop the floor.
- Clean all surfaces regularly.
- Take out trash, recycling and other waste items.

Team Culture

- Ensure effective and constructive communication and relationships with all team members.
- Provide accurate and timely information as required.
- Adopt a positive, solutions‑focused attitude to all tasks.

Health and Safety

- Act safely at all times, including complying with all safety instructions and training.

- Report all incidents, injuries and potential hazards promptly.

Person Specification
Essential Knowledge or Experience

- Have Australian visa rights.
- Experience in factory manufacturing, production or laboratory settings.
- Interest in the production of natural skin‑care products.

Driver’s License: Yes – desirable

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $30.35 per hour

Expected Hours: 28–32 per week
