Aboriginal Kinship Care and Family Based Foster Care
AFSS Family Based Foster Care and Aboriginal Kinship Care teams are responsible for the recruitment, training, assessment, and support of AFSS carers across greater metropolitan Adelaide. These carers may be Aboriginal or non-Aboriginal, and include foster, kinship, and specific child-only carers, all of whom are considered as placement options for Aboriginal children and young people who are unable to live with their birth families.
Who we are looking for
- Assist with carer recruitment events, activities and information stalls as per the AFSS Annual Foster Care Recruitment Strategy.
- Conduct thorough and comprehensive assessments on prospective carers in accordance with the Step by Step (2017), Winangay and Specific Child Only Foster Carer Assessment Tools.
- Coordinate and or deliver relevant and ongoing training.
- Actively manage the completion of administrative tasks including data reporting and the use of AFSS processes and tools to manage workloads and priorities.
- Maintain and model an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement in the provision of services to internal and external customers.
To be successful you will need
- Tertiary qualification in Human Services, Social Work, Social Sciences or Psychology is essential.
- Current Valid and full South Australian Driver’s Licence
- A South Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Current National Police Clearance
- Safe Environments for Children and Young People (Through their eyes)
- Cultural Awareness Training
- Unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia
