Our Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary) prepares future educators for professional practice through contemporary teaching, academic support and engagement with schools and early childhood settings.

SCEI-HE is seeking an experienced Learning Advisor and Librarian to support student learning, academic success and access to high-quality library resources.

About the Role

The Learning Advisor and Librarian combines professional library services with academic learning support.

The role supports students to develop academic literacy, language, numeracy, research and referencing skills. It also provides specialist support to Master of Teaching students preparing to meet relevant literacy and numeracy requirements, including LANTITE readiness.

Working closely with academic staff and student-support services, the position contributes to student progression, academic integrity, accreditation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage physical and digital library collections, databases and subscriptions.
- Provide individual and group support in academic literacy, language and numeracy.
- Support Master of Teaching students with LLN development and LANTITE readiness.
- Assist students with academic writing, research, referencing and study skills.
- Deliver workshops and develop learning resources within the LMS.
- Guide students in using academic databases, credible sources and citation tools.
- Support academic integrity and responsible research practices.
- Collaborate with academic staff to embed learning support and library resources into courses.




- Support international students and students from diverse educational backgrounds.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to audits, accreditation reviews and quality-assurance processes.
- Oversee library access, lending services, copyright requirements and electronic resources.
- An AQF Level 7 or higher qualification in library and information science, education, academic learning support or a closely related field.
- Eligibility for professional membership with the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), where relevant.
- Experience in academic library services or academic learning support.
- Demonstrated experience supporting academic language, literacy and numeracy development.
- Experience supporting academic writing, research, referencing and information literacy.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Experience supporting students in teacher education.
- Knowledge of LANTITE literacy and numeracy requirements.
- Knowledge of TEQSA and VIT requirements.
- Experience supporting blended or online learning.
- Familiarity with library-management systems, digital databases and LMS platforms.
- Experience contributing to audits, course reviews or accreditation processes.
