About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Ophthalmic Assistant/ Receptionist to join our dynamic team at SA Eye Specialists Pty Ltd in Woodville South, SA. This is a part-time role (3-4 days per week) with an opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of our eye care practice. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring a positive experience.

What you'll be doing

- Welcoming patients to our practice, recording important demographic and medical information correctly

- Assisting ophthalmologists and optometrists during clinical examinations and procedures

- Performing preliminary patient assessments, including visual acuity testing and other relevant screening procedures

- Operating and maintaining ophthalmic equipment and instruments

- Preparing treatment rooms and ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked and organised

- Documenting patient information accurately and maintaining detailed clinical records

- Providing patient education on eye health, treatments and post-operative care instructions

- Managing patient flow and scheduling appointments to optimise clinic efficiency

- Sterilising and managing medical instruments according to infection control protocols

- Solely opening and closing the practice from time to time ensuring a positive patient experience throughout their practice journey

What we're looking for

1. Previous experience in a similar receptionist or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare or medical setting

2.



Must have Australian work rights or valid work visa to be eligible for this position

3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with patients, staff, and healthcare providers in a professional and courteous manner

4. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively

5. Proficient in using computer software, including scheduling and patient management systems

6. Basic computer skills are required for operating scheduling and patient management systems

7. A friendly, empathetic, and patient-focused approach to customer service

8. A desire to contribute to the overall success and growth of the practice
