About the role

Macfarlane Generators Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine Mechanic to join our team in Rockingham, WA. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing small generator sets and related products. As a Small Engine Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and ensuring all generator sets meet our high standards of performance and reliability. Your expertise will be vital to supporting our operations and maintaining customer satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults in small engines used in generators and related power generation equipment

- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug servicing, and fuel system cleaning

- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble engine components such as carburetors, fuel injectors, ignition systems, and cooling systems

- Conduct performance testing and quality checks on repaired generator sets to ensure they meet operational standards

- Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work completed

- Liaise with customers to understand generator set issues and communicate repair timelines and costs

- Order and manage spare parts and materials needed for repairs

- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and workshop procedures

- Contribute to a clean and organised workshop environment

What we're looking for

- Trade qualification or certification in small engine mechanics or diesel mechanics

- Proven experience working with small engines, including petrol and diesel variants

- Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on problem-solving abilities

- Proficiency with workshop tools and diagnostic equipment

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications

- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship





- Solid communication skills and customer service orientation

- Reliability and punctuality

- A valid driver's licence

- Experience with generator engines or similar equipment is highly desirable

- Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices
