About Central Gippsland Health
Central Gippsland Health is the major provider of acute, aged care and community health services for Wellington Shire and surrounding regions, serving a population of more than 42,000 people.
Our integrated health service includes:
- More than 110 acute beds
- Approximately 180 residential aged care beds
- Rehabilitation and community health services
- A 24-hour Emergency Department
- Intensive Care and Coronary Care Unit
- Operating Theatres and Day Procedure Unit

Our Medical Services Division includes General Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Cardiology, Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine, Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Oncology and Renal Services. The Opportunity
As Consultant Geriatrician, you'll provide specialist clinical leadership across Geriatric Medicine while contributing to General Medicine and supporting rehabilitation, subacute and community-based services.
This is a highly rewarding role where you'll work closely with fellow Physicians, nursing and allied health teams to deliver comprehensive, person-centred care that promotes independence, healthy ageing and coordinated patient journeys.
Your work will include:
- Comprehensive geriatric assessment and inpatient management
- Acute and subacute ward rounds
- Rehabilitation in the Home and Better at Home services
- Community Hospital patient reviews
- Specialist outpatient clinics
- Clinical leadership within multidisciplinary teams
- Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and trainees
- Quality improvement, clinical governance and service development
This role offers the opportunity to influence service delivery and help shape the future direction of Geriatric Medicine at CGH.
About You
You will bring:
- Current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Geriatric Medicine, or equivalent qualifications recognised by the RACP
- Applicants assessed by the RACP as substantially or partially comparable, including those suitable for Area of Need appointments, are encouraged to apply
- Experience in Geriatric and General Medicine within an acute hospital environment
- A commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centred care
- Strong communication, leadership and teaching skills
- A collaborative approach and passion for improving services for older Australians
