An opportunity exists for an experienced Principal Mining Consultant to join a globally respected mining advisory team delivering high-impact transformation and operational improvement projects across the resources sector.

This role sits within a specialist advisory group focused on unlocking value across the mining value chain, supporting operations, investors, and executive leadership teams with strategic, data-driven and practical solutions. The organisation operates internationally and partners with major mining companies, financial institutions, and project developers across multiple commodities and jurisdictions.

With a choice of office locations in Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth , this position offers exposure to complex, high-value engagements across both operating assets and development-stage projects.

The Opportunity

As a Principal Consultant, you will lead and deliver strategic advisory assignments focused on operational performance, cost optimisation, productivity improvement, and business transformation across mining operations.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, site leadership teams, and multidisciplinary technical experts to assess current performance, identify value opportunities, and support the implementation of sustainable improvement initiatives. This role combines strong technical mining expertise with commercial acumen, stakeholder engagement, and strategic thinking.

Projects will typically involve site diagnostics, benchmarking, operational reviews, transformation programs, and executive-level advisory across the full mining lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and deliver complex consulting assignments across mining operations and projects
- Conduct operational assessments to identify performance, cost and productivity improvement opportunities
- Develop practical transformation strategies and implementation roadmaps
- Engage directly with executive teams, site leadership and technical stakeholders
- Facilitate workshops,



strategic reviews and performance improvement initiatives
- Provide benchmarking insights to support optimisation, feasibility and due diligence work
- Manage multiple client engagements, ensuring delivery to high technical and commercial standards
- Mentor and support junior consultants and technical professionals
- Contribute to business development, client relationship management and industry engagement
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across mine planning, operations, and technical services

What You’ll Be Working On

This advisory function specialises in operational excellence and business transformation within mining environments. Engagements may include:

- Operational performance diagnostics and benchmarking
- Cost reduction and productivity improvement programs
- Mine planning and business planning frameworks
- Operational readiness and transformation initiatives
- Executive advisory and strategic reviews
- Implementation support and value realisation tracking

The work is highly practical and site-connected, often involving travel to mining operations to engage directly with stakeholders and understand operational realities.

About You

You are a senior mining qualified with deep operational or technical experience and a strong understanding of the mining value chain. You bring a strategic mindset, strong analytical capability, and the ability to translate complex operational data into actionable business outcomes.

Core Experience

- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in the mining industry
- Strong background across underground or open cut mining operations
- Broad understanding of mine planning,



production, cost structures and operational drivers
- Experience in business improvement, operational optimisation or transformation programs
- Proven ability to manage projects and deliver client-facing outcomes
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience working across multidisciplinary teams

Highly Regarded

- Underground hard rock operational experience
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints or similar methodologies
- Consulting or advisory experience within mining or heavy industry
- Experience supporting feasibility studies, due diligence or strategic reviews
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability

Leadership & Capability

- Strong project management and delivery capability
- Ability to mentor and develop junior professionals
- Commercial mindset with client relationship management experience
- High-level report writing and executive presentation skills
- Resilient, autonomous and outcome-focused in fast-paced environments

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
- Demonstrated technical credibility within the mining sector
- Proven track record delivering value within complex operational environments
