About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and influential WHS Superintendent to lead workplace health and safety across our Lake Way operation. Reporting to the WHS Manager this pivotal role is responsible for providing specialist WHS leadership, driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring legislative compliance, and safeguarding our people through effective risk management.
The WHS Superintendent will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of SO4's Mine Safety Management System (MSMS), while partnering with operational leaders to enhance safety performance, strengthen workforce capability, and support sustainable operational growth.

Key Responsibilities
As the WHS Superintendent, you will:
- Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the Mine Safety Management System (MSMS).
- Provide expert advice and guidance on WHS legislation, regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Drive safety leadership across site, partnering with leaders to achieve WHS objectives and KPIs.
- Lead audits, inspections, incident investigations and corrective action management.
- Manage site risk registers and facilitate risk assessments, change management processes and hazard management activities.
- Oversee emergency preparedness, emergency response capability and crisis management planning.
- Lead contractor safety management and ensure compliance with site standards and legislative requirements.
- Manage injury management and return-to-work processes in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and present WHS performance reports, metrics and insights to site leadership, senior management and the Board.
- Develop and mentor WHS team members while fostering a positive and proactive safety culture.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators, contractors, employees and key stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety performance and operational effectiveness.
- Fulfil statutory obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022, including acceptance of relevant statutory appointments.
About You
You are a highly credible WHS leader with extensive experience in mining and remote operations. You bring a strong understanding of legislative compliance, risk management, contractor management and injury management, combined with the ability to influence leaders and teams at all levels.
You will also demonstrate:
- Strong leadership capability with experience leading and developing safety teams.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
- A practical and proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining WHS management systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret WHS data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations, emergency response programs and compliance activities.
- A commitment to fostering a positive safety culture that aligns with SO4's values.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Workplace Auditing and Investigation qualifications.
- Accredited ICAM Lead Investigator and OHS Lead Auditor.
- Certificate III Mine Emergency Response and Rescue.
- Workers Compensation and Injury Management accreditation.
- Construction White Card.
- Current WA "C" Class Driver's Licence.
- Completion of statutory requirements applicable to Section 26 appointments, including Level 4 and 5 risk management competencies and relevant DMIRS requirements.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in WHS leadership within mining, construction or project environments, preferably in remote operations.
