Winnunga is seeking a passionate and experienced Tackling Indigenous Smoking Coordinator to lead and coordinate culturally safe tobacco and vaping prevention, cessation and health promotion activities across the ACT and surrounding region.

This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, communities and partner organisations to reduce the harms of smoking and vaping, strengthen community-led approaches, and improve health outcomes.

About the Role:

- Lead and coordinate the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program and team.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate culturally appropriate tobacco and vaping prevention, cessation and health promotion initiatives.
- Promote smoke-free homes, workplaces, public spaces and community environments.
- Deliver outreach and education activities in schools, workplaces, sporting groups, community events and other settings.
- Coordinate community campaigns and promotional activities, including World No Tobacco Day, NAIDOC Week, youth engagement activities and smoke-free community initiatives.




- Build strong partnerships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, ACT Health, Cancer Council ACT, schools, community groups, sporting organisations and national TIS stakeholders.
- Support staff training, including Quit Educator and Brief Intervention training.
- Maintain accurate program data, reporting, evaluation outcomes and performance measures.

About You:

- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities.
- Robust community engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of tobacco control, smoking cessation, vaping prevention, health promotion or wellbeing programs.
- Experience in project coordination, reporting and evaluation.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice.
- Willingness to undertake tobacco control, health promotion or related training if required.
