Hays is currently partnering with a large, complex public sector organisation to recruit an experienced Budgeting & Administration Assistant for a 6-month temporary assignment with an immediate start.This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-performing finance function, supporting key budgeting, forecasting, and administrative processes within a structured and collaborative environment.
Your new role
Reporting into the Finance team, this role will provide critical support across budget data management and administrative operations, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of financial processes.
Budget Data Management
- Assist with the maintenance and management of corporate budget and forecasting data
- Support continuous improvement of budgeting and forecasting processes
- Load approved budget data into systems accurately
- Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and stakeholder information
General Administrative Support
- Deliver high-quality administrative support to the wider team
- Maintain and improve administrative systems and processes
- Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders across the organisation
- Prepare draft correspondence, reports, and briefing materials
- Monitor compliance with internal policies and procedures
Procurement & Contract Administration
- Raise purchase orders for new and existing contracts
- Assist with the preparation of low-value contracts using established templates
- Support administration of low-risk contracts in line with relevant procurement policies
Ad Hoc Duties
- Undertake research, reporting, and additional administrative tasks as required
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, or financial data management processes
- Exposure to corporate budgeting environments and resource allocation processes
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and work with data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced workplace
- A proactive and collaborative approach with strong attention to detail
Requirements
- Availability to start immediately
- Ability to commit to a 6-month assignment
- A current National Police Clearance (issued within the last 3 months)
- Valid Australian working rights (visa details required if applicable)
