WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
As an RF & Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing RF systems, electrical and electronic systems, and related designs in accordance with directions from the Project Lead and Chief Engineer.
General Responsibilities
- Design, simulate, prototype, implement, debug, and test existing and new RF/electronic/electrical systems and hardware
- Assist development of technical specifications and conversion of specifications into RF/electronic/electrical hardware
- Assist performance analyses of RF/electronic/electrical systems
- Assist in the estimation of development effort and system costs
- Assist documentation activities
- Assist testing and quality assurance
- Assist in project reviews and design reviews
- Identify and evaluate new technologies
- Perform other related activities as may be directed by the Project Lead and Chief Engineer
- Understand and follow the company’s processes
- Communicate task status, updates,
and risks to the Project Lead and Chief Engineer
- Constructively contribute to team meetings
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Your Immediate Areas of Focus will likely cover:
- High performance, SDR-based receiver and transmitter design
- Active and passive antennas (at HF, VHF, and UHF)
- Strategic and tactical HF systems
- Digital signal processing in FPGA and C
- Engineering design and testing processes
- PCB design, layout, and procurement
- RF-chain analyses and link budgets
Skills Expectations
- Demonstrated ability in Altium Designer or equivalent PCB CAD software
- MATLAB, Python, VHDL
- MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Soldering and assembly of electronics and PCBs
- Solid understanding of RF concepts and demonstrated RF design experience
- Solid understanding of schematic capture and PCB layout for RF circuits
- Solid understanding of RF-chain analyses and RF specifications
- Sound understanding of digital signal processing
- Attention to detail, process oriented and excellent record keeping
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to use spectrum analyzers, VNAs, oscilloscopes, and signal generators
- Demonstrated ability to write and proofread technical documentation
- Ability to effectively manage time & prioritise tasks
Essential Requirements
- Bachelors (or higher) Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline with at least 4 years’ relevant experience;
- Diploma of Electronics and Communications Engineering (UEE50520) with at least 7 years’ relevant experience;
- Certificate IV in Radio Frequency Networks (ICT40410) with at least 10 years’ relevant experience
- Be an AUSTRALIAN citizen (non-citizens will NOT be considered due to the nature of our work)
- Be eligible and willing to obtain an Australian Government security clearance and retain that clearance while employed by Ebor Systems
- Willingness to travel within Australia and overseas when needed
- Live in South Australia (or be willing to relocate) and reside in or near Adelaide as you will be required to work in our Mile End office
- Have practical hands-on experience with electrical/electronic/RF components;
- Be able to understand and work with mixed systems including mechanical, HVAC, and electrical.
- Have valuable interpersonal and communication skills, particularly verbal and documentation skills.
- Be prepared to undertake field work, remote from Adelaide if needed.
- Be self-motivated, and have a positive view of team work and collaboration
- Demonstrate an ability to take ownership of the role and its responsibilities to drive electrical/electronics/RF design and implementation in accordance with business and customer requirements
Desirable Requirements
- An existing Australian Government security clearance
- Development skills for FPGA firmware on Xilinx platforms such Kintex and Kintex Ultrascale
- Understanding of circuit simulation packages such as: Spice, HFSS
- Understanding of digital signal processing algorithms
- Experience with 3D CAD modelling software
- Working experience in Windows and Linux development environments
- Understanding of LV electrical power systems
WHAT CAN WE GIVE YOU?
Remuneration
- $125,000 to $150,000 per annum (FTE) + Super – dependent on experience
- Super Guarantee +1% plus super salary sacrifice option with up to 2% matching contribution from Ebor
The hours
- Part-time or Full-time, subject to negotiation
- 12-month contract, with Ebor option to extend or convert to permanent
- Flexible time, based on core hours 10:00 to 15:00
