Our client is a well-established and growing South Australian organisation operating within the disability and community services sector, delivering essential supports to individuals across multiple service streams.

With continued growth and an increasing operational footprint, the organisation has reached an exciting stage where it is strengthening its internal finance capability and bringing more of its finance function in-house.

This is a hands-on Finance & Payroll role that will support the leadership team by delivering accurate payroll, financial reporting, reconciliations and compliance, while contributing to improved systems, processes and financial management.

THE POSITION:

Initially offered as a 6-month contract, this position has a genuine opportunity to become permanent as the organisation continues to expand.

Working closely with the Financial Accountant, you'll take ownership of payroll while supporting management reporting, reconciliations and finance improvement initiatives that will help shape the future of the finance function.

This is far more than a traditional payroll or bookkeeping role.

You'll play an important part in strengthening the organisation's internal finance capability while supporting day-to-day financial operations. Working alongside the Financial Accountant, you'll contribute to payroll, reporting, reconciliations and process improvement as the finance function continues to evolve.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll

- End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing using Brevity and Employment Hero/Paycat
- Extract, validate and reconcile payroll information
- Ensure payroll compliance with the SCHADS Award and Fair Work requirements
- Manage leave balances including Annual Leave, Personal Leave, TOIL and Long Service Leave




- Prepare payroll reporting and resolve payroll enquiries

Finance

- Assist in bringing the finance function further in-house
- Prepare monthly management reporting
- Complete bank, payroll and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with budgeting and cash flow reporting
- Support month-end and year-end processes
- Prepare journals and General Ledger reconciliations
- Support NDIS funding reconciliations
- Improve finance systems, controls and internal processes
- Identify efficiencies that support continued business growth

About You...
You'll be someone who enjoys working across both payroll and finance and is looking for an opportunity to contribute beyond transactional processing.

You'll ideally bring:

- Experience in a Finance Officer, Assistant Accountant, Senior Bookkeeper or Finance & Payroll role
- End-to-end payroll experience
- Strong understanding of the SCHADS Award
- Experience using Employment Hero, Paycat or similar payroll systems
- Experience with Xero or similar accounting software
- Robust reconciliation and month-end accounting experience
- Experience preparing management reports
- Excellent Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset

Experience within the disability, NDIS, community services or aged care sectors will be highly regarded, however candidates from other industries with strong payroll and SCHADS Award experience are encouraged to apply.
