We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our transfer station and baling facility in the ACT. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing day-to-day operations, driving safety and compliance, and ensuring the site operates efficiently, reliably and to a high standard.
Reporting to the Southern Region Manager, this role is responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the site and the leadership of frontline employees. This role will suit someone with strong operational leadership experience in waste, recycling, logistics, manufacturing, transport or a similar industrial environment.
About the roleLead the safe and efficient operation of the transfer station and baling facility.Manage daily site activities, including labour planning, production, equipment use, traffic flow and material handling.Provide clear leadership to supervisors, operators, drivers and site teams.Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and operational requirements.Support the delivery of operational performance targets, labour productivity and cost control measures.Work closely with maintenance teams to support equipment reliability and minimise downtime.Plan and co-ordinate maintenance activities as part of the site preventative maintenance programRespond to emergencies and break downsEnsure materials are processed, baled,



stored and dispatched in line with operational requirements.Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, customers, contractors and key stakeholders.Identify and implement practical improvements across safety, productivity, quality and cost.Support recruitment, training, performance management and workforce planning.
About youExperience leading operational teams in waste, recycling, logistics, transport, manufacturing, warehousing or a similar environment.Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to coach, direct and hold teams accountable.A strong commitment to safety, compliance and environmental performance.Experience managing daily operations, labour planning, contractors and site performance.Good commercial awareness, including cost control, productivity and service delivery.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a busy operational setting.Clear communication skills and the ability to work with frontline teams, senior leaders, customers and contractors.Experience with transfer stations, baling operations, heavy equipment, mobile plant or materials handling will be highly regarded.
