About the role

Bishop Collins Chartered Accountants is seeking a BAS and IAS Supervisor to join our team in a full-timeTuggerah, NSW. This is a key supervisory role within our Bookkeeping and Small Practice Accounting division, where you will oversee the preparation and lodgement of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Income Adjustment Statements (IAS) for our diverse client portfolio. You will play a crucial part in ensuring compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements whilst maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and timeliness. This role offers the prospect to lead a team, develop junior staff, and contribute strategically to the smooth operation of our accounting practice.

Key responsibilities

1. Supervise the preparation, review and lodgement of approximately 400 BAS and IAS returns each quarter for multiple clients across various industries

2. Ensure all BAS and IAS submissions comply with current ATO legislation and regulations

3. Manage and prioritise workflow to meet all statutory lodgement deadlines

4. Review work completed by junior staff members, providing feedback and coaching to maintain quality standards

5. Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues that arise during the BAS and IAS preparation process

6. Maintain accurate and comprehensive client files and documentation

7. Communicate with clients regarding their BAS and IAS obligations and any queries they may have

8. Stay updated on changes to tax legislation and ATO requirements relevant to BAS and IAS

9. Contribute to process improvements and the development of templates and systems to enhance efficiency

10. Support the wider accounting team on special projects as required

What we're looking for

1.



Proven experience of 3+ years in BAS and IAS preparation and lodgement within a bookkeeping or accounting practice

2. Strong knowledge of ATO requirements and current tax legislation applicable to BAS and IAS

3. Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience

4. Proficiency with accounting software and tax lodgement systems commonly used in Australian practices

5. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

6. High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial and tax documentation

7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients

8. Professional accounting qualifications (CPA, CA, or Bookkeeping qualification preferred)

9. BAS Agent qualification would be perfect.

10. Knowledge of MYOB, Xero or similar accounting software is critical.

11. A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry standards
