Civil Engineer (Development & Capital Works)
Location: Officer, VIC
Rate:$50 - $60 per hour + Super
Contract: ASAP Start – December 2026

An opportunity is available for an experienced Civil Engineer to join a local government team based in Officer.
This role will focus on the assessment and approval of development applications, engineering design reviews, drainage and traffic matters, and the delivery of infrastructure and capital works projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess and approve engineering construction plans associated with development applications.
- Provide specialist advice on traffic, drainage and civil engineering matters for new developments and capital works projects.
- Undertake engineering investigations and prepare practical design solutions for internal and external stakeholders.
- Review development proposals to ensure compliance with Council standards and infrastructure requirements.
- Manage and coordinate civil infrastructure and drainage projects, ensuring delivery within scope, budget and timelines.
- Liaise with developers, consultants, contractors, service authorities, residents and internal stakeholders.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the Team Leader Development, Project Engineers and Surveillance Officers.
- Prepare technical reports,



correspondence and recommendations for Council and stakeholders.

About You

- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience assessing development proposals and engineering construction plans.
- Strong knowledge of drainage, roads, traffic engineering and municipal infrastructure.
- Proven project management experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and plans.
- Understanding of local government processes and legislation is highly regarded.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence is essential.
