Graduate Environmental Health Officer .80FTE - 12 month contract

Mount Barker District Council is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Environmental Health Officer to join our Health and Public Safety team.

This is an excellent chance for a recent graduate to begin their career in environmental health while working alongside experienced Environmental Health Officers. You'll receive mentoring, professional development and practical experience across a broad range of public health services that directly contribute to protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of our community.

You will support the delivery of Council's environmental health and public health services by assisting with investigations into public health risks, infectious diseases, environmental hazards and community health issues.

Working under the guidance of experienced officers, you will undertake inspections of public and commercial premises, support wastewater and pest management programs, prepare reports and documentation, contribute to community education initiatives, and assist Council in meeting its reporting obligations under relevant public health legislation.





You will also gain practical experience across food safety and local nuisance by conducting food business inspections, investigating food-related complaints, supporting food safety compliance and recalls, and assisting businesses to meet their legislative requirements. In addition, you will investigate complaints relating to pollution, noise, smoke, dust, odour as well as monitor development sites for environmental compliance, and support the administration of temporary and mobile food business approvals and other regulatory functions.

Salary Range $88,122 - $95,189 pa (pro-rata for part time hours) plus superannuation.
