As Chaplain, you will:
- Provide confidential pastoral care and wellbeing support to employees, volunteers, and their families.
- Support staff impacted by critical incidents, trauma, and cumulative stress.
- Provide follow-up support and referrals where required.
- Assist leaders with sensitive conversations and employee support.
- Participate in ceremonial events and provide pastoral support when requested.
- Maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with the Mental Health and Wellbeing team.
About You
We're looking for a compassionate, approachable professional who understands the unique challenges faced by emergency service personnel.
You will bring:
- Experience providing pastoral care in challenging environments.
- Understanding of trauma, critical incidents, and the impact on first responders.
- Strong communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wellbeing team.
- Commitment to inclusive, respectful, non-denominational care.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A recognised qualification in Chaplaincy, Theology, Ministry, Pastoral Care, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
- Demonstrated experience providing pastoral support within healthcare, emergency services, military, corrections, community services, or a similar environment.
Desirable
- Disaster Response Training.
- Experience in ambulance, emergency services, or first responder chaplaincy.
- Experience in palliative care or grief and bereavement chaplaincy.
- Understanding of peer support and employee wellbeing programs.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse communities.
