Assistant Director (Maternity Leave Cover) – Full-Time
Cockatoo Community Childcare is a small, community-based Not-for-Profit early learning service nestled within the beautiful Alma Treloar Reserve. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant Director to join our dedicated team in a full-time fixed-term maternity leave position.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Director or Educational Leader looking to step into a leadership role where you can make a genuine difference. Working closely with the Centre Director, you will support the day-to-day operations of the service while helping to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment for children, families, and educators.

About the Role
As Assistant Director, you will:
- Support the Centre Director with the daily management and administration of the service
- Provide leadership, mentoring and support to the educator team
- Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families and the local community
- Assist with maintaining compliance with the National Quality Framework, Education and Care Services National Regulations, and Child Safe Standards
- Support curriculum planning and continuous quality improvement in line with the Early Years Learning Framework
- Perform the role of OHS Officer
- Step into the Director role as required during periods of leave or absence
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Diploma or Bachelor qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care
- Previous leadership experience
- A thorough understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Regulations and Child Safe Standards
- Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills
- The ability to support, motivate and collaborate with a small, dedicated team
- A commitment to delivering high-quality education and care and building strong relationships with children and families
- A positive, proactive and qualified approach to leadership
