About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior AV Technician to join our team at UXT in Canberra. This is a full-time position supporting our client with their audio-visual needs.
As part of the UXT team, you’ll play a critical role in supporting and maintaining audio visual and IT systems across teaching and learning spaces.
You’ll be responsible for a mix of hands-on technical support, remote troubleshooting, and proactive system monitoring, ensuring high-quality user experiences across campus environments.
This is not just a helpdesk role, you’ll be working across integrated AV systems, networks, and software platforms, with opportunities to build real technical depth.
You'll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex AV issues, performing preventative maintenance, supporting room and event technology, commissioning equipment and helping ensure our clients receive an exceptional support experience.
This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working independently and mentoring other technicians while contributing to continuous service improvement.
Travel between client sites is minimal, with the majority of your work focused within a single client workplace.
What you'll be doing
- Provide advanced technical support across audiovisual and collaboration technologies.
- Diagnose and resolve complex AV, networking, software and control system issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance and system health checks.
- Proactively monitor systems and respond to service alerts.
- Document and track all support activities, including problem resolution and recommended improvements
- Collaborate with the wider IT teams to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to service delivery
- Support meeting spaces,
teaching environments and client events.
- Configure, load and validate control system and DSP files.
- Assist with hardware installations, commissioning and system optimisation.
- Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Mentor junior technicians and share technical knowledge.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 4 years' experience as an AV Support Technician or similar role
- Strong technical skills in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of audio-visual and IT equipment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to effectively liaise with clients
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality support
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex issues
- Familiarity with industry-standard software, tools, and best practices
