About the Role:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Cottage Program is a unique therapeutic day program supporting young people aged 12–18 years who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges that have significantly impacted their ability to attend school. The program provides a safe, supportive and recovery-focused environment where young people can build confidence, develop practical and social skills, and work towards re-engagement in education, training or vocational pathways.

As an Allied Health Assistant within the Cottage Program, you will work as part of a small, supportive and multidisciplinary team alongside mental health clinicians, teachers and other professionals to support young people in their recovery journey. You will play a key role in creating a positive and engaging program environment, assisting with therapeutic group activities, providing practical and emotional support, and helping young people develop skills that promote independence, wellbeing and community participation.





A core component of the role involves the active supervision and support of young people throughout the program day, including during morning arrival and afternoon departure periods, to ensure their safety, wellbeing and engagement.

The role offers opportunities to be involved in a wide range of creative, therapeutic and learning-based activities designed to support young people's mental health, social connectedness and skill development. This may include facilitating group activities, community-based experiences, recreational programs and practical skill-building opportunities that contribute to meaningful recovery outcomes.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people, values a strengths-based and recovery-oriented approach, and enjoys working collaboratively within a dynamic team environment to achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families.

This is a temporary position available for 18 months, with the possibility of extension subject to operational requirements and funding.

A merit pool may be established from this recruitment process and will remain valid for 12 months. This pool may be used to fill similar roles/ future vacant positions at the same level across CHS.
