About TrellaTrella Architecture & Interiors is a Canberra-based design studio delivering integrated architecture and interiors across housing, workplace, retail, hospitality, education, recreation, community and commercial sectors. We believe great projects come from balancing creative thinking with technical rigour, and from designing with purpose, place and people in mind.Our team of around 8–10 people works across a deliberately diverse portfolio. From award-winning housing and adaptive reuse projects to workplace, hospitality, retail and community environments, we enjoy the variety, challenge and resilience that comes from working across multiple sectors and project scales. Recent project successes include the North Wright Compact Housing project, winner of the ACT Multi-Residential Award, the inaugural Missing Middle Prize and the Derrick Wrigley Sustainable Architecture Award.People enjoy working at Trella because of the balance we offer: the autonomy and flexibility of a smaller studio, combined with the systems, mentoring and quality processes often associated with much larger practices. The OpportunityWe're looking for a BIM Lead + Project Architect to join our team and play a dual role in project delivery and digital leadership.This is not a traditional BIM Manager position. Approximately 70% of your time will be spent leading and delivering projects, with the remaining 30% focused on maintaining and strengthening our BIM capability across the practice.You'll lead your own projects while supporting the continued evolution of our BIM standards, templates, quality systems and workflows. We already have a strong BIM foundation, established standards and quality management systems in place. We're looking for someone who can help refine, strengthen and build on that foundation as the practice continues to grow.
This role offers the opportunity to influence how projects are delivered across the entire studio while remaining actively involved in design, documentation and project leadership.Projects you would be leading typically range from approximately $3 million to $20 million and span a broad mix of sectors including:Missing middle, medium-density housingWorkplace and commercial and higher education projectsRetail and hospitality environmentsRecreation and community facilitiesAdaptive reuse, heritage and new build projectsCustom residential projects
What You'll Be DoingAs a Project ArchitectLead projects from design development through to deliveryCoordinate consultants, stakeholders and project teamsPrepare and oversee high-quality Revit documentationManage planning, approvals and project submissionsBuild and maintain strong client relationshipsMentor and support graduate and junior staffUndertake site visits and construction phase involvement as requiredAs BIM LeadMaintain and further develop BIM standards, templates and workflowsSupport project teams with Revit and BIM-related technical issuesContribute to documentation quality and consistency across projectsReview and refine BIM processes and quality assurance systemsManage and develop Revit content, families and typical detailsAssist with onboarding and BIM training of staffIdentify opportunities for continuous improvement in project delivery and digital workflows
What We're Looking ForRegistered Architect highly regardedApplicants working towards immediate registration are encouraged to applyApproximately 5–10+ years professional experienceExperience delivering projects within the Australian design and construction industryDemonstrated experience leading projects and coordinating consultantsAdvanced Revit skillsStrong understanding of BIM workflows within architectural practiceStrong technical knowledge and understanding of buildabilityExperience maintaining documentation standards and quality processesStrong interest in emerging technologies and AI-assisted workflows that improve design, documentation and project delivery.Excellent communication and mentoring skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesA collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused approachExperience developing BIM templates, content libraries, standards or digital delivery systems will be highly regarded.Experience with visualisation software, automation tools or scripting workflows is desirable but not essential.
