Department 13 is an cutting-edge Australian drone detection and Counter Drone technology company, delivering global solutions around the safety, security and protection of people and infrastructure.
We are currently looking for a Project Manager to join our team.
Based on-site in our Canberra office, the primary purpose of the Project Manager role is to lead the planning, coordination and execution of Department 13’s engineering projects, ensuring activities are aligned to business priorities and that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
You will have visibility of business priorities to support planning, resource coordination, governance and continuous improvement, enabling successful delivery of business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day coordination of technical resources across Department 13 to ensure business priorities are understood and delivered.
- Build and maintain close working relationships across the business to ensure products meet customer requirements, are delivered on time and achieve quality standards.
- Contribute to capability planning, delivery and initiatives in line with Department 13 Technology Roadmap.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve project management processes, governance frameworks and supporting documentation.
- Lead and manage the planning, coordination and delivery of internal and external projects in accordance with the Program Management Framework, governance requirements and organisational standards.
- Facilitate governance forums,
project meetings and decision-making activities to support successful project delivery.
- Actively document and manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies and issues to support successful delivery outcomes.
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively; manage dependencies and resolve conflicts across parallel initiatives.
- Provide project level health reporting, delivery updates and recommendations to the Department 13 Executive Team.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, project delivery processes and team efficiency and actively contribute to business planning and future growth opportunities for Department 13.
- Understand and comply with Department 13’s Quality, Safety and Environmental principles, processes and work instructions which relate to these matters.
There may be a requirement to carry out reasonable additional duties to meet the needs of the organisation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Project/Program Management, Engineering, Business or related discipline.
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience working in a Project Management role.
- Proven experience in applying project / program disciplines including scheduling, scope and change control, risk and issue management,
reporting and governance.
- A strong understanding of engineering processes and the technical challenges which face engineering projects.
- Have a record of partnering with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders across geographic boundaries to deliver strategic technology and/or transformational solutions.
- Expertise in Agile project management methodology.
- Experience with project tracking software and workflows.
To be successful in this role, you will be extremely detail oriented with a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement. Strong time management, problem-solving and analytical skills are a must.
You will have excellent influencing and communication skills, both verbal and written with an ability to build strong trusting relationships both internally and externally to the business.
