NRM Regions Australia is the national peak body representing 54 regional natural resource management (NRM) organisations. We provide national leadership, coordination, and capability-building across one of the world's most comprehensive regional land management networks. Purpose of the role
The Executive and Project Support Officer provides executive and operational support across the NRM Regions Australia team to deliver our organisational strategic objectives. The role is split between providing executive support to the CEO and Board, and a wide range of administrative tasks to support organisational events and projects. This is an opportunity to be part of a small, dedicated team supporting a national sector that creates lasting environmental and social impact.
Duties & key responsibilities
- Provide high-level executive support to the CEO, including diary management, travel arrangements, and preparation of correspondence and briefing materials.
- Liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including Chairs and CEOs from member regional NRM organisations, Parliamentary staff and senior governmental staff.
- Work with other team members to deliver organisational priorities and project-related activities, including invoice collation, team coordination and travel, fundraising support and policy & procedure updates.
- Prepare, compile and publish communications materials (e.g. newsletters, web content, social media, factsheets, Annual Report), ensuring quality and consistency with organisational style.
- Organise, support and participate in online meetings, workshops and webinars including technical support of those events and taking minutes/meeting notes.
- Assist with the creation of documents and project reporting, and maintain records and files in an online workplace.
- Assist in developing and maintaining organisational systems and software needs.
- Contribute to the organisation of in-person meetings and other events, including annual National CEO & Chair Forums and the 2028 National NRM Knowledge Conference.
- Provide assistance to all team members and other duties as required.
Key selection criteria
- Strong executive support skills, demonstrating a high level of professionalism, discretion, and nuanced judgment.
- Superior written, editorial, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisation, time management and coordination skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Highly proficient in standard office applications (eg Google Suite, Microsoft Office suite, Zoom), website management (eg WordPress) and on-line platforms (eg Slack, Asana) and/or the ability to learn these quickly.
- Experience managing mailing lists and high-level stakeholder communications.
- Ability to engage collaboratively and work flexibly with a small, remote team.
- Self-motivated, with a nimble and creative mindset for problem-solving across diverse areas.
Desirable
- Demonstrated understanding of or interest in environment, natural resource management, climate change and/or sustainable agriculture.

- Location: Access to own home office setup and reliable high speed internet access to use NRM Regions Australia’s online systems and communications tools.
- Right to Work: You must be eligible to work in Australia (Australian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid visa with work rights).
- Perform all duties in accordance with NRM Regions Australia's policies and procedures.
- Willingness to undertake a police check.
