Duty Manager – Remote Coastal Far North Queensland

An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Duty Manager to join a busy, community-focused hotel in remote Coastal Far North Queensland.

Set amongst one of Australia’s most naturally beautiful and culturally rich regions, this is a hands-on leadership role suited to a confident hospitality professional who thrives in quick-paced venues and enjoys being involved across all aspects of hotel operations.

This is not a step-up role for someone new to management — the venue is seeking a capable and experienced operator with strong supervisory skills, excellent gaming and bar knowledge, and the ability to lead a team while maintaining exceptional customer service standards. With a busy public bar, restaurant, accommodation operations and regular events, no two days are the same.

The property itself features self-contained accommodation units, landscaped gardens, a pool area, onsite restaurant and bar, and conference facilities, all within a vibrant remote coastal community filled with history, culture and stunning natural surroundings.

Commencing: Immediate Start

- $80,000 per annum
- FREE Accommodation - Own Room in shared staff house off site including utilities
- 5 Duty Meals per week
- Flights paid from Cairns

Responsibilities:

- Ensuring the smooth running of hotel operations of an evening and in the absence of the hotel manager & assistant Manager.




- Hands on across all areas of the venue including;
- Hands on Bar work
- Restaurant work
- Staff mentoring, supervision and training
- Gaming-TAB and Pokies compliance and payouts
- Check-in of hotel guests and reservations after reception hours (Guestpoint System)
- End of night reconciliation of tills
- General cash handling
- Close of venue
- Ensuring responsible service of alcohol & Gaming
- Ensuring the safety of patrons and staff
- Full responsibility of managing and delegating kitchen cleaning, records, inspections & labelling - working with Head Chef
- Ordering of bar stock, liaison with reps, organising promotions
- Stock management, rotation, filling cool rooms and putting slow sellers on special
- Weekly 10 items stocktake and monthly full stocktake on 1st of Month
- -Management of the wine list
- Organisation and management of pool comp and sporting events

Candidate Requirements:

- Must have current Qld RSA and RSG.
- Candidates must have previous supervisory/management experience, be able to cope well under pressure and be a team player.
- TAB, Keno and gaming experience highly regarded
- Drivers Licence desirable
- Have excellent communication skills
- Ideally have previous experience living and working in a remote location
- Previous experience with SWIFTPOS desirable
- Be versatile with rostering requirements
