Eden Ritchie Recruitment are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant – Finance Projects to provide specialist technical accounting expertise while leading audit coordination, financial governance improvements and finance projects within a complex organisational environment.

This is an opportunity for an experienced CA or CPA qualified professional to influence financial sustainability, strengthen internal controls and deliver meaningful improvements across financial reporting and asset management.

Key responsibilities include:

- Lead the coordination of external and internal audit activities, acting as the primary finance contact throughout the audit process.
- Manage the identification, tracking and resolution of audit findings, control deficiencies and compliance matters.
- Prepare high-quality technical accounting papers and provide advice aligned with relevant accounting standards and legislative requirements.
- Investigate complex financial accounting and asset-related matters, identifying risks and recommending practical solutions.
- Support financial reporting, governance and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen financial processes and internal controls.
- Partner with stakeholders across the organisation to improve financial outcomes and provide expert technical guidance.
- Contribute to asset management initiatives and financial inputs into long-term financial modelling.




- Mentor and support capability development within the finance team while promoting best practice financial management.

To be successful you will have:

- Degree qualifications in Accounting together with CA or CPA accreditation.
- Demonstrated experience in technical financial accounting within local government or another large, complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, statutory financial reporting and technical accounting advice.
- Proven experience coordinating external and internal audits and resolving audit findings.
- Experience improving governance frameworks, financial controls and reporting processes.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to challenge existing practices and deliver practical, risk-based recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and report writing skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.

Desirable:

- Experience within local government, government, utilities or infrastructure sectors.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Accounting or Finance.
