Oldfields Scaffolding is seeking an experienced scaffolder with strong communication, organisational and computer skills to progress into an Operations Coordinator role.
This is an opportunity for someone who understands scaffolding and site operations but is ready to move into a position involving planning, scheduling, operational decision-making.
Your practical scaffold knowledge will be highly valuable when allocating labour, organising materials, assessing job requirements, resolving site issues and communicating with our teams and customers.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager as their key support person and assist with managing the daily works program. Depending on your experience and ability, the role may also include estimating and supervising selected projects onsite.
This is not a traditional administration role. It is a hands-on operational position and a genuine career progression prospect for an experienced scaffolder who wants to take on greater responsibility.
The role
As Operations Coordinator, you will help manage the daily flow of people, materials and information across our scaffold operation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating scaffold crews, materials and the daily works program
- Allocating employees based on their experience, qualifications and the requirements of each job
- Maintaining the operational planner and recording new jobs, changes and customer requirements
- Reviewing job requirements and helping determine appropriate labour and scaffold materials
- Coordinating responses to operational and site issues as they arise
- Communicating with customers, supervisors, subcontractors and employees
- Coordinating job bookings, site access, labour requirements and deliveries
- Supporting the Operations Manager with daily planning and operational decisions
- Assisting with site measures, estimating and preparing straightforward quotations
- Preparing job packs, Safe Work Method Statements and project documentation
- Ensuring information is communicated clearly between the office and scaffold crews
- Attending sites and supervising selected works where required and within your experience
- Identifying opportunities to improve safety, planning, productivity and communication
- Assisting with invoicing and other operational administration when required
About you
This role would suit an experienced scaffolder who wants to progress beyond working solely on the tools and build a long-term career in operations.
You will ideally have:
- Robust hands-on scaffolding knowledge and industry experience
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing with employees, customers and supervisors
- The ability to understand scaffold requirements, materials and labour needs
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Confidence using computers, email and job-management systems
- The ability to manage changing priorities in a busy operational environment
- A practical, calm and solutions-focused approach
- The confidence to make decisions and escalate issues when required
- An interest in estimating, planning and site supervision
- A willingness to learn every part of the operation
Previous experience as a leading hand, supervisor, estimator or scaffold coordinator would be highly regarded but is not essential.
