About our Organisation:Youth Off The Streets is a not‑for‑profit organisation that provides safety, support and opportunities for young people to build a positive future. Our services include crisis accommodation and housing support, alternative high school education, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice programs, life skills and employment pathways, cultural support and community engagement.

As the Team Leader Dubbo, you will lead a small team delivering culturally safe, responsive and community‑connected support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. You’ll guide staff in embedding cultural practices, strengthening engagement, and ensuring programs reflect local community expectations, cultural knowledge and YOTS frameworks.
Your leadership will be culturally grounded, trauma‑informed and strengths‑based. You’ll build trust with community, support staff capability, and ensure young people feel safe, respected and empowered throughout their journey.
This role is based in Dubbo, with robust relationships across local Aboriginal communities, Elders, families and partner organisations.

What you'll do:Lead, support and supervise staff working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people

Provide coaching, guidance and performance feedback to build cultural capability and confidence

Promote culturally appropriate, trauma‑informed and strengths‑based practice

Support the design and delivery of culturally grounded programs and activities

Ensure case planning and support reflect cultural identity, community expectations and local knowledge





Build strong relationships with Elders, families, community organisations and stakeholders

Represent Youth Off The Streets at community meetings, interagency forums and cultural events

Strengthen referral pathways and partnerships to improve outcomes for young people

Provide cultural advice and support the embedding of cultural protocols across the team

Oversee program operations, rostering, reporting and compliance requirements

Ensure accurate data collection, record keeping and reporting

Contribute to audits, continuous improvement and service quality

Support budget monitoring, expenditure tracking and financial reporting

Identify risks, emerging issues and opportunities for program development

Uphold child‑safe practices and contribute to a culturally safe environment

Promote youth voice and participation in program development and community forums

Maintain strong professional relationships with internal teams and external partners

What you'll bring:Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander3–5 years’ experience in a similar role within community services, youth work or related fields

Demonstrated ability to support culturally safe and responsive services

Experience supervising or supporting staff in community‑based programs

Strong communication, advocacy and relationship‑building skills

Ability to work respectfully with diverse cultural backgrounds and community expectations

Understanding of trauma‑informed, developmentally‑informed and strengths‑based approaches

Experience with reporting, data collection and compliance requirements

Good organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities

Ability to respond calmly and therapeutically in crisis situations





Commitment to ongoing professional development

Current NSW Driver Licence, Working With Children Check and Police CheckUnderstanding of child‑safe principles and cultural safety practices
