About Us

Goldfields Women's Refuge has been supporting women and children across the Goldfields since 1979. We provide crisis accommodation, outreach services, Safe at Home services and transitional housing, delivering trauma-informed, client-centred support to some of the region's most vulnerable people.

About the Role

As a Crisis Accommodation Employee, you will provide frontline support to women and children residing at the Refuge, helping to create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment during what is often the most difficult time in their lives.

Working as part of a 24/7 roster, no two days are the same. You will support clients with practical day-to-day needs while maintaining the safety and smooth operation of the Refuge.

Your duties will include:

- Welcoming and supporting women and children entering crisis accommodation
- Providing trauma-informed, respectful and non-judgemental support
- Assisting with client orientation and admission processes




- Supporting clients with daily living and practical needs
- Maintaining a safe, secure and supportive environment
- Monitoring the Refuge and responding appropriately to incidents
- Preparing rooms for new arrivals
- Completing accurate shift notes, reports and handovers
- Working collaboratively with Outreach, Safe at Home and other Refuge staff
- Maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

- Compassionate and genuinely committed to supporting women and children
- Calm under pressure and able to respond professionally in crisis situations
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Reliable, adaptable and able to work both independently and within a team
- Comfortable working a rotating roster, including evenings, overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays
- Organised with good written record-keeping skills
- Ability to work respectfully with vulnerable people
- Commitment to trauma-informed practice (training provided where required)
- National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
- Current First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Western Australian Driver's Licence
- Ability to participate in shift work across a 24-hour roster
- Certificate III or IV in Community Services or related qualification




- Experience in family and domestic violence, community services, residential care or crisis support
- Mental Health First Aid or other relevant training
